I knew from a very young age that it was my calling to contribute to the amazing world of cosmetology.
I was drawn to Vogue and Vanity Fair from the time that I could read. I’ve always been obsessed with all things that are aesthetically pleasing. As a child, I observed and took note that when you love how you look, it can completely change the way you feel about yourself and carry yourself.
I began my professional career as a licensed cosmetologist in 2009 and have since spent my time behind the chair inspired by the ever-evolving Beauty industry.
I was first exposed to hair extensions on a job shadowing experience in grade school. I knew that I had to be connected to these life-changing transformations. Throughout my professional experience with hair extensions, I have not only become certified in over a dozen hair extension methods but, I have also worn them myself to truly understand what techniques are the most successful based on quality, comfort, discretion, and value.
After years of consulting with my beautiful guests about their personal hair struggles, I came to the realization that there is a lack of understanding and options when it comes to providing solutions for hair loss. I started my journey as a Hair Loss Practitioner in 2018 and have since become a board-certified Trichologist by the American Medical Certification Association.
In 2020, I released my own hair restoration device to help women regrow their hair and maintain a healthy scalp. I use a multi-therapeutic approach to help you rediscover your beauty through world-class services and solutions tailored just for you.
I truly value each and every guest who sits in my chair and strive to make your hair dreams a reality. I believe that when you feel like you are of high value and you allow yourself permission to receive the self-care that you deserve, that it will lead to a better sense of confidence resulting in inner as well as outer beauty.
When I’m not at Throne, you can find me spending time with my patient and loving husband, our two beautiful boys, and our four small pups. I am a lover of horror movies and reality-based TV. I’m a Libra who is always trying to find a healthy work/life balance.

Hey, I’m Mel! I was born and raised in the Virgin Islands, but Raleigh became my home in 2006. I originally attended culinary arts school to become a pastry chef but quickly learned that I was more passionate about tasting treats rather than baking them. My creativity thrives best when I’m creating something beautiful. This naturally made me gravitate towards a career in Cosmetic Arts.
My love for learning has allowed me to venture into all aspects of the beauty industry and offer a variety of different services. I am well versed in all hair textures and curl patterns. My specialties are Haircuts, Color, Brazilian Blowouts, Treatments, and Hair Extensions. Making my guests look and feel their best is what fills my heart and makes me love this industry.
